mistero
l’ho pensato e progettato,
l’ho detto, sperato, tentato.
Volevo fare luce
a me e agli altri.
Ma l'orgoglio dell'alta statura,
il caldo dell'estate,
l'assedio di altre fiammelle
mi hanno piegato e spento".
Questa confidenza mi ha fatto
un cero sofferente di Fatima.
Allora mi sono domandato:
"La fiammella del mio Battesimo
è ancora accesa?"
I wanted to be aligjht
I have thought it and projected,
I have told it, hoped, tried.
I wanted to make light
for me and for others.
But the pride of the tall stature,
the heat of summer,
the siege of other flames
have folded and extinguish me."
This was told to me in confidence
by a suffering candle at Fatima.
Then I wondered:
"The flame of my Baptism
is still alight?"
