la forza e la luce
mistero
dal giardino della Genesi
dal cuore del Nazareno
sono giunte fino a noi.
Un filo prezioso
ha attraversato i secoli
sorretto dalle mani sante
di Pietro e Paolo e mille altri.
E per mirabile mistero
ha scavalcato i grovigli della storia
legato, talvolta, a pali indegni.
La croce, da lontano,
sembra soltanto simbolo di morte,
ma da vicino è rivelazione:
sulle sue braccia corrono
i fili della forza e della luce.
Strength and light
from the garden of the Genesis
from the heart of the Nazarene
they have arrived at us.
A precious thread
has crossed the centuries
sustained by the holy hands
of Peter and Paul and thousand others.
And for admirable mystery
has climbed over the tangles of the history
tied up, sometimes, to unworthy poles.
The cross, from far away,
it seem symbol of death only,
but from near it is a revelation:
on her arms run
the threads of strength and light.
