non voglio essere un fossile vivente

Questa conchiglia
era gia fossile quando fu vista
dai costruttori di Agrigento
nel quinto secolo avanti Cristo.
Ma ci fu un tempo in cui palpitava,
si muoveva nel mare,
cresceva, amava.
Oggi sono in grado di domandarmi
se sono un vivente vivo
o un fossile vivente.
E’ tremendo camminare
senza andare in nessun luogo,
parlare senza dir nulla,
occupare uno spazio inutilmente,
salire sui trampoli e credere
di essere sulla cima dell'Everest,
fare una carriera che vale
meno di una scatola di imballaggio.
Sono felice di scoprire
questo pericolo, questa voragine:
fermo il mio passo
e cerco con gli occhi un altro sentiero.
I don't want to be a living fossil
this shell
already was fossil when it was seen

But there was a time, in which she palpitated,
moved about in the sea,
she grew, she loved.
Today I am able to ask myself
if I am a living person
or a living fossil.
It is awful walking
going no places,
speaking without say a thing,
occupying a space uselessly,
get on the stilts and believe
to be on the top of the Everest,
having a career that is worth
less then a packing box.
I am happy to discover
this danger, this abyss:
I halt my footstep
and I looking for an other path with my eyes.
